Tasca, Motorcraft/Quick Lane Funny Car Team Welcome Short Break after First-Round Loss in Denver

When it comes to prep time after a tough loss, less is more for NHRA Full Throttle Series Funny Car drivers like Bob Tasca III and their teams.

The Motorcraft/Quick Lane camp is more than happy to go straight from Denver to Sonoma, Calif. this weekend for the second stop on the three-races-in-three-weeks Western Swing.

Tasca narrowly lost in the first round to Cruz Pedregon, who cut a .059 light on the starting line to Tasca’s .074 for a holeshot win. Pedregon crossed the stripe in 4.261 seconds at 290.26 mph to Tasca’s 4.258 at 293.98.

“Hats off to my guys,” Tasca said. “They made a great call (in Round 1). We struggled a little bit this weekend. We had a fuel pump issue on Friday and had a lot of tire smoke Saturday, but they made a great call today. Cruz’ guys made a great call as well. He probably ran low E.T. of the session when you adjust for where he staged. Off to Sonoma. I love the fact that these races are back-to-back-to-back because I have a lot of confidence in this team and know that if we keep stepping up to the plate, we’re going to hit some home runs. Hopefully in the near future.”
